Red Dead Redemption 2 Gets New Life with Unofficial New Game+ Mode

Rockstar’s classic open-world western Red Dead Redemption 2 is once again a hot topic among gamers, thanks to an unofficial fan-made New Game Plus mode. While the original game was lauded for its immersive and expansive take on the infamous Wild West, Red Dead Redemption 2 was elevated by the New Game Plus mode, offering fans the ability to play through the game again with their existing characters and progress. Taking on the challenge of filling in the feature-gap left by Rockstar, an intrepid modder has successfully unveiled the New Game Plus mode for the game.

The fan-made New Game Plus mode takes players’ progress from a previous play-through, allowing them to tackle missions with all of their items, stats, and upgrades. Achievements and trophies still unlock as normal with the mode, and popular weapons and outfits stay with players. Additionally, the mod adds new cosmetic items as well as improved difficulty levels, including challenges such as damage over time, more aggressive enemies, and higher-tier encounters.

The New Game Plus mod is currently exclusive to PC, though it reportedly works on both the Epic Games Store and Steam version of the game. The modder cautions that those playing on a console version should use caution when looking for the unofficial New Game Plus mode, as doing so could leave their console vulnerable to malicious software.

The fan-made New Game Plus mode has been widely praised by Red Dead Redemption 2 fans. Those who have already completed the game can now enjoy the full story with an improved level of difficulty and from the perspective of a different save slot. With a PC-exclusive mod like this, players have everything they need to get the most out of their Red Dead Redemption 2 experience.
