The highly anticipated Xbox-exclusive title, Starfield, has been delayed by Microsoft after executives decided that the developers would focus more on developing the game.
Starfield was first unveiled at E3 2018 and initially boasted a 2020 launch window. However, despite being on the market for two years, the game’s development has been slower than expected as a result of various technical issues.
In a statement released to the press, Microsoft confirmed that they had asked the developer, Bethesda Game Studios, to invest more time and resources into developing the game.
The company added that they will not be setting a new release date and urged fans to be patient as they will not “rush the game to market at the expense of quality”.
The decision came after poor reviews from early tests of the game, which showed bugs and glitches that hindered the game from its full potential. Microsoft wants to avoid any issues that could affect its reputation and quality of the Xbox game lineup.
Games from Bethesda have been critically acclaimed, with games like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V winning numerous awards and receiving high scores from professional reviewers.
The development of Starfield has been highly anticipated since its announcement, with many excited for the chance to explore a new world. Even without a release date, the game is already subject to much speculation and buzz.
It is unclear when the game will be released, but Microsoft has indicated that it may be some time before the game is ready. Until then, fans can look forward to more information about the game and be hopeful for its eventual launch.
