Young French racing sensation Theo Pourchaire has his sights set on the victory in the upcoming Budapest Formula 2 feature race on September 4th. Pourchaire, currently ranked 2nd in the championship, will be looking to secure the first win of his Formula 2 career in the Hungarian capital.
Despite only completing one full season in the Formula series, Pourchaire has already made a big impact with some impressive performances throughout 2020 – consistently stealing the spotlight with a series of standout drives. The Sauber Junior Team by Charouz racer showed off his undeniable talent in Austria last month where he clinched a winning double at the Spielberg circuit. Now, the 18-year-old Frenchman, nicknamed ‘The Kid’ by his peers, has his eyes firmly set on claiming top honours in Budapest.
Pourchaire has admitted that taking the overall title is a realistic aim and a win in Budapest could be the perfect way to kick start his championship challenge. Following some disappointing performances on the roads of Silverstone, qualifying prowess will be fundamental for Pourchaire to reach the front of the grid. His innate ability to find extra speed will be of the utmost importance.
This Saturday’s race should prove to be a thrilling affair with plenty of action set to unfold. Pourchaire is immensely popular amongst the current crop of young drivers and will certainly be among the favourites to seize victory at the Hungaroring. With the Formula 2 season now reaching its climax, Pourchaire will be more than motivated to put his name in the history books with a remarkable maiden win.
