Virtual Reality developer Townsmen VR has announced plans to support new Quest 3 headsets, but has unfortunately decided to exclude illustrious older-gen headsets from it’s remit.
The company shocked many users when it revealed the news that the new version of its game will only work with the newest technology: Quest 3 headsets. Quest 3 is a new version of the Oculus VR headset released last year. It is compatible with various VR interface accessories.
Sadly, older-gen headsets will be left in the dark and will not be able to take advantage of the new features introduced in Quest 3 and in the game. The news has been met with criticism from many people, especially from those who invested in older VR hardware.
Since these older headsets are no longer compatible with the new game, fans of the franchise have to either buy the Quest 3 headset to experience the next installment or simply wait. This announcement has reduced Townsmen’s player base and many are discouraged from engaging with the game.
Townsmen VR has promised to provide user-friendly and convenient gameplay, however, this decision has made it difficult for certain users to enjoy the game in the first place. By excluding long-term fans, it seems that Townsmen VR has put its growth plan before its popularity. Whether this move has proven to be a mistake, only time will tell.
