Switch Player Magazine, a six-year staple for Nintendo Switch gamers, has announced it will be publishing its final issue and shutting its doors for good.
The magazine first started publishing in 2015, when the Nintendo Switch was first released. It quickly became renowned for its in-depth coverage of the latest games, hardware and events related to the console. It also provided an outlet for fans to share their thoughts on the games they were playing and discuss the future of the system.
Unfortunately, despite the magazine’s popularity, the financial burden of keeping the magazine afloat became too much for its small team of editors and contributors. In a statement, they said:
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the final issue of Switch Player Magazine will be published this month. This has been a difficult decision, but after six years of dedicated work, we have come to the conclusion that we are no longer able to keep the magazine alive. We want to thank our readers for their support over the years and for all the wonderful memories.”
The last issue of Switch Player Magazine will feature an exclusive interview with Nintendo’s President Shuntaro Furukawa, as well as a retrospective of some of the most memorable moments of the magazine’s run.
